We fell in love with this house at first sight. From the beginning, we had some obstacles to face, like an old roof, broken HVAC, wallpaper nightmare, dirty carpets, overgrown yard.. as crazy as it sounds, they were all things we were excited to get our hands on! We are far from finished, but day by day a little progress is made on our home.
The Front
On move-in day – if you love pink, you’ll love the shrubbery around the house.
The Garage
The not so white garage as it looked when we pulled into – our – house for the first time.
The Back
There is a lot of potential in the backyard – mostly made up of pine’s, we have a little space to get the grass growing.
How many pine trees can one yard have you ask? Just wait until we write about this…
The Side Yard
So lesson learned #1 – take more before pictures! We so regret not having better before pictures of this horribly overgrown side yard. Here is a glimpse of it after Adam chopped and mowed the waist high grass/hay and spruced up this island.
Foyer
Here we are in the foyer on move-in day. How about that hunter green tile?!
Dining Room
Turns out we have “wainscoating,” – thanks Google! We can’t wait to take this wallpaper down and give her a fresh coat of paint!
Kitchen and Nook
The kitchen is on our to-do’s as a big project, at least big for us. Our plan here is:
- new appliances (done – post coming soon)
- fresh wall paint (also done)
- replace counter tops
- re-paint kitchen cabinets
- paint ceiling fan and remove the floral bulbs
- replace cabinet hardware
- add tile backsplash
Also, this nook.. it’s one of our favorite spots.
Living Room
The living room is so spacious, and we love the vaulted ceilings and fireplace. We plan to re-tile the fireplace and depending on the current layout of tile, replace the mantle as well.
Master Bedroom
Oh… master bedroom, what shall we call you? Floral heaven or floral nightmare.. we think nightmare is more appropriate! We are unsure of details, but we believe when this home was foreclosed, the old carpet was ripped up (except for the closets) and this slab was left bare. It’s a beautiful layout that lets in a lot of light with three windows. the hallway has two closets and leads to the bathroom.
Master Bath
Besides the kitchen, this is the biggest project we will probably face. We really don’t love much about this bathroom except for the tub and the window.. we have a lot of ideas built up for this one like..
- new tile
- replace counter top
- paint cabinets
- remove wallpaper (done – post soon)
- paint walls, ceiling, trim
Guest Bathroom
The guest bathroom is nice and spacious; the shower even has a bench built in. The past owners seemed to have begun fixing up this side of the house; new cabinets here and granite countertop. We have some plans for this bathroom, but nothing like the master bath.
Bedroom #2
Bedroom #2 on move-in day was declared the guest bedroom. It has laminate flooring, unlike the hardwoods throughout the rest of the house, or the carpet in the other two bedrooms. We plan to add the same carpet to this room. It also has a HUGE walk-in closet… our guests are lucky!
Bedroom #3
This room was declared the office upon move-in. It will soon have our sleeper sofa though to allow an additional place for guests. The same carpet that was in the master closets was in this room, and we quickly replaced it as well – post to come on that. This was the only non-yellow room in the house – hallelujah.
Screened Porch
Last but definitely not least, this is by far Caesar and Cleo’s favorite space of the house. We love it too! We will definitely be painting over this green, and likely re-tiling as well. There will likely be some privacy hedges planted in the near future too.
