I can’t believe May is already almost over. It feels like just yesterday Justin Timberlake was telling us “it’s gonna be may..” I thought it would be neat to start sharing some specific things we really loved from the month, our monthly highlights, like a new tool, paint, decoration, method, etc. and maybe some things that we really want to try, like a diy project or finding a paint spray gun.
So, here goes our highlights!
How many times have you heard someone say this month, “omg we neeeeeed rain!” or “that sprinkle of rain did nothing for my yard!” or “all my May flowers from April showers are dying!”
Well, we’ve heard it a lot. And we do need rain. But in the time of drought, we are super thankful for a sprinkler system that is pretty much the bomb.com. Adam has a deep love for this sprinkler system. He loves showing it to anyone that comes over to our house. Sometimes I see him just standing outside watching each station as it comes on. It makes me smile, maybe I laugh a little, but mostly smile. Sometimes we accidentally take Izzy out while it’s on, and she runs through it as if she hadn’t just had a bath… Sometimes (okay just one time) something busts under ground and it not only waters our yard, but starts to flood the neighbors’ yards. Yep.
That is when Adam really started learning about our sprinkler system. It was installed by the prior owner of our home, and he has spent a lot of time figuring out how we can best use it and how to fix broken parts. Post coming soon on some of these tips, but for now, I’ll leave it to say just how thankful we are for something to keep our yard looking alive.
I mentioned this in this post where I was also rambling about things, but it seriously helps so much! We’ve used it simply with hanging pictures, with our tiling job, all kinds of things. There are all kinds, but this one we purchased was inexpensive, doesn’t take up much space in the Mr.’s overflowing tool box, and works like a charm.
I’ve always loved baskets, but lately I’ve loved finding new uses for baskets. We had two of the one in below picture that sat on our sofa table, and in the apartment held office related supplies. We got them at Ikea a few years ago. One day I woke up to find Adam had placed one next to the coffee maker, and I really like the way it looks! I feel like it adds some warmth to our kitchen and goes nicely with some of the wood tones we already have.
This should honestly say, “flowers that are actually blooming” because really I love flowers every month. But finally, we found some flowers that are actually living and thriving at our mailbox! Special shout out to our Lowe’s garden expert. The yellow ones are marigolds and the white are white salvia I believe, but need to check on that. They’re perennials and love full sun. Win in my book!
Post to come on this soon, but I wanted to share what the Mr. has been up to in the back yard. He has slowly pressure washed the whole back so we can finally paint that green area above the screen to gray to match the front porch. It’s amazing what a bit of pressure washing can do! Such a simple and easy way to improve your home.
The arrows below show some progress shots of areas that were completed. More before & afters to come in a future post!
The month of June is coming in hot. Enjoy the last day of May!
’til next time,
